יוֹחָנָן כֹּהֵן גָּדוֹל הֶעֱבִיר הוֹדָיוֹת הַמַּעֲשֵׂר. אַף הוּא בִּטֵּל אֶת הַמְעוֹרְרִים, וְאֶת הַנּוֹקְפִים. וְעַד יָמָיו הָיָה פַטִּישׁ מַכֶּה בִירוּשָׁלָיִם, וּבְיָמָיו אֵין אָדָם צָרִיךְ לִשְׁאוֹל עַל הַדְּמָאי:
Yochanan il Sommo Sacerdote respinse le confessioni della decima. Ha anche eliminato quelli che recitavano il verso "Svegliati" e i knocker [dei vitelli sacrificali]. Fino ai suoi giorni, il martello avrebbe colpito a Gerusalemme. Ai suoi tempi, nessuno doveva chiedere di Demai [prodotti dai quali non è certo se le decime fossero già state prese].

They [may bring their grain to be] milled and stored (מפקידין not מרקידין, see Git. 61b.1) at the place of those that eat seventh-year produce, and at the place of those who eat their own produce in a state of impurity (ibid.), but they may not mill [produce] for those who eat seventh-year produce or those who eat their own produce in a state of impurity.
